Unit 18: Colours
Lesson 1(Look,listen and repeat,Look and say)


I. Aims :
- Ss will be able to identify colours.
II. Language input:

3) Sentence Patterns: - What colour is it? It’s red
They are playing with paper boats.

They are blue

Audio and visual aids:Recordings,handmade puppets, flashcards of colours and fruits activities such as playing football/ badminton/boards, cycling, flying a kite
Crayons,stickers 3 large pieces of paper for two chants and a song.
V. Procedures:
I. Warm up:
- Ask Ss to sing the rhyme Let’s go playing... on unit 17,page 51
- Comment.
II. New lesson.
1. Look, listen and repeat:
Whole class.Books open.Turn to page 54.Ask sts to indentify the characters and what ere they doing in the picture.Tell them that they are going to hear Mai and Nam talking as they play a blindfold game.Ask sts to say what they know about the game.E xplain the new vocabulary rose,red and the structure What colour is it? Set up the situation,using a poster and two puppets.
- Play the recording all the way through for sts to listen and mime each line of the dialogue.
- Play the recording through for sts to listen to the dialogue.
- Replay the recording again,pausing after each line for sts to repeat.
- Have the whole class repeat all the phrases a few times to reinforce their pronunciation.

2. Look and say
- Ask sts to look at the pictures a,b,c,d ,e,f on page 54.
-Tell sts that they are going to practise indentifying the colours in the pictures.Havests indentify the colours in pictures a,b,c,d,e,f. Use flashcards or real objects to teach the new vocabulary red,orange,yellow,green,blue, pink and green.
- Ask them to repeat each word and point to the specific colour.Repeat the step a few times.
- Tell them that they are going to practise talking about these activities.
Model: Point to picture a in the book and ask What colour is it?Call on a pair.Have one sts Point to picture a and asking What are they doing ? Then answer They are cyclingHave sts repeat the question. Repeat the question,then answer It’s red. Have sts to repeat the answer.Ask the whole class to repeat the answer.Ask the whole class to repeat both the question and the answer for a few times.
Pairwork.Sts practise asking and answering in pairs, using the pictures in their books.Monitor the activity and check sts’s pronunciation.Offer help when necessary.
